On the Boards: A New Lake House in Litchfield County, CT

Compact by Design, Big on Experience

Site Strategy:

We’re siting the home at the property’s high point to maximize lake views while preserving mature trees. We’re opening selective view corridors—never clear-cutting.

Planning:

A compact, adaptable layout supports a growing family. Multi-purpose rooms and efficient circulation deliver flexibility without increasing the footprint.

Materials:

A restrained palette—natural wood, local stone, and dark metal accents—quietly integrates the architecture with the wooded setting.

Arrival & Reveal:

Entry occurs from the uphill side at the main level. Cross the threshold and the space opens toward the downhill façade for a deliberate first glimpse of the lake.

Follow along as we refine the design…
